Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Millennial Farmer 5 oy oldin
@Doc Savage I did a couple videos on the history of our farm with my father. You should check those out. Nothing has been inherited for my Dad or myself. I can't say how things work on Ryan's farm, as he can speak to that if he wants to. Keep in mind, most farmers are born into the industry in some way or another. I don't look at that as a negative thing. In most situations, it's opportunity that gets inherited, not assets.

I got the same 567 mega Wide baler. It caught on fire 3 years ago I saved it and insurance payed me big dollars having 18500 bales enough to re bearing all bearings and replace 4 belts on baler and runs great. Basically it’s rebuilt. Total 22,500. The price on new is fckn crazy prices.
thereissomecoolstuff Oy oldin
The price of hay and alfalfa exploded a few years ago. This made many long suffering hay farmers rich beyond their wildest dreams. Don't know where prices are now. I would be a hay farmer in a minute.

One thing I've noticed with the tractors is a lack of number/registration plate. Does American agricultural machinery not require them?
John Knight
John Knight 2 oy oldin
@Xohoo So when you see them running on what they call "township" roads, what does that mean? Sorry for the questions, juts a curious Brit
Xohoo 2 oy oldin
afaik that's only needed if you want to drive it on public roads, if you're just gonna drive it on your own property there's not really the need to pay for license and registration etc.

4430... a JD Classic! Maybe better than the 4020? Is that possible??? I've probably got more seat time in a 4430 than any other John Deere tractor. From 1975 until 2008, my family owned at least one 4430. This looks to be a Quad-Range trans, all of our 4430's were the 8 speed Sychro-range trans. I didn't see a Quad-Range until we bought an 8630. It was a huge improvement ovre the synchro trans....

Baling hay is pretty fun. It’s an enjoyable time of year for me. It can be stressful though. There’s always rain coming and it’s pretty upsetting when stuff decides to start breaking. But it is fun. Might look into some poly bands for our baler now that I’ve seen this. Sure does quiet one down.
