Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Have you ever looked into Calmer Corn Heads. Pros: They shred the stalks using the knife rolls, using less horsepower and fuel consumption, are easier on the crop and cause way less fluff going through the combine. Cons: $ on initial switch Readjusting combine due to less fluff in thrashing unit. Check them out think you will like what you see.

Just a thought from a layman... I can see maintaining equipment, things like oil changes and cleaning. What I don’t understand is repairs on combines. I might be wrong but it seems that you use a combine a couple weeks a year. It’s not a tractor that you would use a lot to till, pull carts...etc. If you compare a combine with an OTR diesel truck that is used 40hrs a week. They don’t seem to reliable. Again, i might be missing something.
Russ Oy oldin
you should also do a spot on your podcast about Auto re-close on HT or High voltage lines. Most people don't realise that if you short them they trip off. BUT most High voltage systems have a timer that brings the power back on up to Three times . That is what kills people when they think its off and they leave the tractor or they try to rescue someone. The re-close is there for lightning strikes etc.

Zack, in past videos you mentioned hard to remember what was needed for each tractor 🚜 as programs or setups. I work part-time for medical plastic molding company, use my phone constantly for model and serial numbers of parts to order or repair. Also for many many passwords on equipment. Try doing the same, made my job and life easier 😌 made sticky notes with user names and passwords on home computer and do a photo with phone 😃

I'm sharpening my pruning shears as I watch this for my grape harvest Saturday. Harvest is two weeks early this year, but it will be nice to be over with it! My entire array of harvest equipment consists of my pruning shears, 5 gallon buckets, and 1000 lb harvest totes. Easy to prep for but a real workout on harvest day! 😊

My grandparents were sharecroppers in south central MN when I was a tyke back in the 50's and 60's and I always looked forward to the weeks I got to stay on the farm with them. My grandfather farmed 160 acres, milked a dozen or so cows, raised about the same number of hogs, and my grandmother raised chickens and sold the eggs. Grandpa would let us kids ride along on the tractor or in the wagons during harvest and we knew most of the neighbors. It was a hard lifestyle but I learned to really respect the farmers then because I saw how they just dealt with situations as they arose; with an acetylene torch in one hand and a stick welder in the other. Now my daughter is married into a farming family up in your area and my son has married into a farming family from down Rochester way. Scanning UZpost after the pandemic was declared, I stumbled on your channel and have watched most of your videos from last year and this year and really enjoy seeing how you tackle the day to day challenges of farming with a dry sense of humor, a "get it done" attitude and a touch of sweetness when your family shows up to help. Thanks for the entertainment.

I did thain trenching for 9 years and cut through about 1 underground power cable a year. Most of them I diddnt know that I'd cut them, the others just pulled the machine to a Holt and stalled the motor. Those ones you don't get off the tractor, just start it up again and back off it. If you jumped off the tractor then you can get zapped if the pole fuse hasn't blown.
