How Tractors are Built! We were lucky to get a tour of the AGCO plant in Jackson, MN. Watching the tractors in the process of being built was incredible. I hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed the tour!

I am a 5th generation family farmer from West-Central Minnesota. The recent interest in food, combined with a large amount of 'misinformation' has driven me to start this channel. I hope to be someone people can relate to and trust when they question how their food is grown and raised. I also hope to become a 'smarter' farmer through my experiences with this channel. I strongly believe we must have an open mind and a willingness to learn about others, or we cannot move forward as one. My goal is to build the connection between farmers and consumers by facilitating a collaborative conversation amongst everyone. I do this by sharing my day-to-day farming experiences, my opinions on certain topics, and occasionally visiting other farms and businesses to help better understand other farming and business practices. There is no limit to where this channel may go, so please join me!!

What sad is that agco means allis gleaner company and no mention of it. Funny how they are so proud of Massey, and Challenger, but if not for allis chalmers, and gleaner these companies probably would not be recognizable today. I quit buying when they stopped painting them orange they have completely ignored their past

What a great educational experience for your son I wish school's would bring back shop and vocations classes. I went to Washburn in Mpls and we had Metals, wood shop, and drafting classes 1968 to 71 it was my favorite part of school. MPLS had a huge vocational high school located in downtown now all that is gone. We left Minnesota in 1992 and don't know if they have replaced these special schools. I know that the High Schools here in Palm Coast Florida where my too boys attended don't have shop classes I hope that someday they will return. What do you think here should our tax dollars be spent on returning these classes to our schools?

This amazing #1 the fact that it's made in USA/Minnesota #2 that these are all sold units means our economy is booming. #3 I wonder how much more these units cost because of this very through and meticulous process. # 4 I glad that your not just hung up on one brand. # 5 I Believe by showing this reinforces that our work forces are the best in the world. Question is this Union work force? Lastly the questions that your wife, son and you ask are spot on.

Do they have a Gold Key Program like John Deere? The purchaser of a product comes in and starts it first before it gets driven out of the bay. It can become a big deal at Deere when you buy a $500K combine and see the finishing touches being put on it.

Just think. Your farm equipment is now built in factories that are highly robotisized. By the time Onyx grows up and takes over the farm the equipment he uses to do the farming will be all robots and he will program and run them on a computer terminal sitting at home. His future is in the realm of Sci-Fi.

Too much YT is "Me, me, me"; nice to see you take an interest in the person explaining and the pron, I mean kit, the viewer came for.

This is very interesting I have read all of this before .. but you only post a subliminal image of the screen shot .. I don't even have time to pause the video to read the screen shot.. Very Annoying ! At one time after three Companies Merged: Minneapolis-Moline was a large tractor and farm and industrial machinery producer based in Hopkins, Minnesota. It was the product of a merger between three companies in 1929: Minneapolis Steel & Machinery (MSM) which was noted for its Twin City tractors, Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company (MTMC) which also produced Minneapolis tractors, and Moline Plow Company. It had manufacturing facilities on Lake Street at Hiawatha Avenue in Minneapolis, MN, in Hopkins, MN and in Moline, IL. Was the Largest Farm Equiptment Manufacturer in the World . Then after the Invention of the All Crop Harvester .. Also bought out Advance Rumley .. Allis Chalmers because the Largest Farm Equiptment Manufacturer in the World .. John Deere was never an Innovator always a Copy Cat with some hard Core Lawyers.. and their Bully Tactics eventually John Deere became the largest in the USA. By then Massy Ferguson was the Largest Farm Equiptment Manufacturer in the World .. Today if AGCO can't keep John Deere honest I don't know who will ..? Oh can't forget Case IH .. they are still pretty large.. Kubota is very large world wide ..

Challenger//Fendt are the same, basically they keep the name for US. There are some similarities, but Fendt is not MF even though they are all AGCO. MF as a basic product, Valtra as an advanced, highly customized tractor... Fendt standing as a "crown jewel" of the line. It has a deserved nickname, "Rolls Royce of tractors" for a reason.

Pratwurscht Gulasch
Pratwurscht Gulasch 2 oy oldin
@Matt_B i hear you and to tell you the truth i don't know anything about tractors, i'm basically making all this stuff up that i'm saying. i agree with you about picking out a brand, just like with a car. if you like it and it makes sense to stick with it. for me i like toyota and i'm very happy with it so i'm not going to buy a honda. it's not that i'm against honda, i'm just happy with what i have to i probably stick with it, and it must be the same thing for you and the fendt. i will say about the fendt the design looks bad-a, like from the movie terminator haha.
Matt_B 2 oy oldin
@Pratwurscht Gulasch everything requires maintenance, wether you like it or not. so thats a weird thing to say. could we go down to say once every 6months or once every year, ye probably, but why run the risk (loose from what brand you run). we didnt do it any different then when we were running claas or deere. that being said, with a maintenence i include like filling oils as well, so it really depends on how you define maintenence. as for parts exchange, 1 every 3y maybe longer. i dont have to go all the way back to 2011, read again (P.S. you wanted to know on autonomous so if i have to go back to 2011 to tell you fendt was ahead, thats your fault. dont blame me for going that far back.). its funny how you say that i have to go back to 2011, your gonna have to go WAYYYY further back to find anything where another brand did something before fendt did (at least in tractor segment, im absolutely not speaking for combines / foragers, let that be clear, im ONLY on tractors here) its literally only 3y i have to go back, at most. or even more recent, the fendt xaver from like few months ago.. i didnt see jd / case / nh announced something new those last 2 years other then the electric tractor which was already done by fendt before them or if thats not good enough, the new 1100mt have something called smartRide+, first in the market as well (that said tho, the idea is not new, but someone including it in a real machine, not just prototypes, that is new). no mather what, in terms of tractors fendt is and allways will be the one innovating. claas and nh will push the combines (probably fendt too, cause these ideals are actually really impressive for fendt being in the market for only 3y) while JD and claas fight in the forager industry. at the end of the day it doesnt really mather what brand you buy, most of it is down to personal preference / what you grew up with or warranty in your specific area. each brand has things against it or in favor of it.
Pratwurscht Gulasch
Pratwurscht Gulasch 2 oy oldin
@Matt_B so basically fendt is not built as sturdy and requires a lot of maintenance, this just keeps getting better. if you have to go all the way back to 2011 to highlight innovation then clearly they fell behind. innovation happens today not 10 years ago.
Matt_B 2 oy oldin
@Pratwurscht Gulasch i didnt say 'unreliable' but in case you dont service your machines over the lifespan of lets 20years a fendt will have broken down more then lets say deere. yet the fendt will be cheaper overall, if a fendt brakes its usually much cheaper to repair then JD plus JD doesnt even allow you to repair anymore, you HAVE to take it to a recognized mechanic, so additional costs on that one as well. That said tho, it seems like jd is studier build. but at the end of the day if you service your machines (regularly) any brand is just as reliable. we run 20 fendt 900's or bigger, and really we cant complain AT ALL. that being said tho we let the mechanics do a check up every 2 months. really, servicing is KEY!! no mather the brand. i rather let my mechanics checkup on the tractors for 1h every 2 months then loosing it for a few days due to breakdown of not being serviced. are they behind tho? i mean fendt had a autonomous tractor in 2011. while the first real autonomous case came in 2016 and the first JD one came in 2015. Fendt is (or was) ahead, they just didnt continue with it or follow up on it or announced something yet. but be assured its DEFINITELY in the pipeline. it also depends on how you define autonomous, without a cab? true, fendt doesnt have one. without an actual person in the cab, fendt is again a few years ahead. just some other things that come to mind: 1) fendt was the first with a TRUE CVT, and lots of brands are using it now. 2) fendt was also the first with a fully electric tractor in 2017, 2y before jd announced theirs at agritechnica last year 3) First brand ever to reach the 'Stage 4' emissions standard (with the fendt 1000 series) ... and plenty more, just the first few i could think of. the customer care you get from agco / fendt is again uncomparable. fendt was and allways will be the brand pushing the innovation, yes they are slightly more expensive to buy, but its worth it. the comfort + ease of use is unparalleled. there is a reason that in europe fendt is taking up 24% of total market share (which BTW is roughly on par with JD). or 38% in the 200hp+ category or 45% in 300hp+
Pratwurscht Gulasch
Pratwurscht Gulasch 2 oy oldin
@Matt_B i'm looking at autonomous tractors and both case and john deere are miles ahead of fendt. the one thing i didn't know is that fendt was unreliable so thanks for pointing that out to me.
