Millennial Farmer

Yil oldin

She Didn't Flip It-Becky drives the grain cart for her first time and did great! It won't be long before she'll be on her own. The dryer had us a bit nervous at the end of the day. Thankfully there was no fire.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I just saw this video about bill Gates ( why he owns the most farmland in America ) He plans to kill off the pork and beef industry and control what you can and cannot grow And he is getting the politicians in place to make the rules that he needs

Have you ever considered putting a level measuring system onto your bins? You would be able to know how much is in the bins without that climb to the top or hitting on the sides.

All that work cleaning up grain around the bins, unloading area, etc.. I wonder if it's possible to have a trough (with a grate over it) with a auger in it around the high cleanup areas? The trough could transfer to a inclined screw, which you could put into a front loader scoop, or maybe even a grain cart when it's not harvest. Or maybe if not a trough, just a square hole or two. I am not a farmer, although I do work for an apple grower and packing company. My great grandparents farmed dry land wheat in Oregon. I think about the how they had horses (mules) pulling a combine, and how hard they worked every day.

4 bucks a bushel on corn? Soybeans yield more at $10.54, so why not skip on corn and just do soybeans?
The Geezer
The Geezer 4 oy oldin
To anyone a bushel is 56lbs or ½ a hundredweight (in old money) 20 cwt to a ton. 4 bucks a bushel is 8 bucks 1cwt. $160 a ton. prices rise n fall. So $170 would be good. $150 would be bad.

I greatly appreciate your showing us how computers assist the farming community in field work. Amazing stuff. Thanks for the shows Zac and family.

new to your channel. I am fascinated with the fact that your generation of farmers are so tech savvy. It is apparent that John Deere has zeroed in on that also. Those tractors are amazing. I was hauling potatoes out of a cellar near Rupert, Idaho and they had a John Deere front end loader moving mud and it had those LED lights and it was like daylight out. Becky is great help!

First video of your's I have watched. You run a good sized operation. How many acres of corn and I guess soybeans as well.? What is moisture in the field, 15 to 18+ and drying to 12.? how long to dry down to 12 if put in at 18 for your bin (10,000 bushel)? How many bushels per hour can your grain dryer handle?

watching you work, it is EASY to believe reports about farming being DANGEROUS !!! climbing, lots o' MOVING machinery..... I know you can't help that, just the nature of the biz !!!! I enjoy these vids, as when I was a kid in the 60's, I "worked" (played, fooled around, mostly) on my grandparents wheat farm and small dairy (4 stalls....), near DOVER, OK..... no computers, no gps, no cell phones, back then !!!! but I do remember riding in their 2 old 49 or 50-something Ford 1 ton trucks, hauling wheat from the combines to the elevator in town, working late into the night, sometimes !!! Thanks Jim Jensen - Jacksonville, FL

I have recently found your channel and absolutely love it. As I watched this video two things came to mind. 1. Transferring from the combine requires a complex set of skills for both operators. It looks a lot like the same skills required to refuel a fighter jet in the air. Kudos to your wife for a job well done. 2. I would absolutely love to see Bloomberg try to do that or anything else you did in this video. I still can't believe how stupid that idiot is. You have a fantastic channel. Keep up the good work!
